MOVE Texas Action Fund (MOVE Texas) is seeking a dynamic, innovative and agile Operations Director to join our efforts to build efficient operations systems for a quickly scaling organization. The Operations Director requires a successful track record of airtight financial management and oversight; a knack for evaluating and improving systems to ensure the organization runs smoothly behind the scenes, and leadership skills to ensure the Operations team is supported and set up for success. The Operations Director will work directly with the Executive Director to build and manage the Operations team. This includes the Operations Manager who manages two Associates. The department also hosts 1-2 interns per academic term (3).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Financial Management

  • Manage MOVE’s daily financial operations, and work with internal teams and external bookkeepers to ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting.
  • Lead an efficient collaborative annual budgeting process , and regularly analyze cash flow projections and budget reforecasting.
  • Lead the annual audit and IRS 990 filing with support from the Operations Manager.
  • Develop and enhance internal financial process and procedures documentation to ensure strong internal controls.
  • Support the Operations Manager in stewarding fiscal sponsorship processes and relationship to fiscal sponsor.
  • Consistently and proactively work with the Development Director to assess revenue receipts and pledges.
  • Support the Operations Manager in grant tracking.


Administration & Board

  • Work with the Executive Director to manage the Board of Directors, including meeting planning and keeping the Board informed and engaged.
  • Maintain governance processes, policies, and records to ensure compliance with organizational bylaws.
  • Ensure the MOVE staff is well versed in 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) compliance and permissible activities.
  • Manage nonprofit compliance, including tax and government filings and support the Operations Manager in proper document retention and management.
  • Manage the Operations team to ensure a safe and comfortable office for employees, and maintenance of information technology and equipment.


Human Resources

  • Lead Human Resources with support from external HR consultation, including evaluation and development of internal policies and processes.
  • Manage employee performance evaluations.
  • Work with the Executive Director to manage employee relations.
  • Ensure onboarding and offboarding processes are compliant and well documented.
  • Support the Operations Manager in administration of efficient and accurate management of employee benefits and payroll.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate brings a track record of proven success as an empowering, adept manager with the ability to integrate into an existing team of high performers.

  • People Management & Leadership - Prior staff management and organizational leadership experience required. Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively by setting up a team to meet goals. This means excellent organization, time-management, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Financial Management - Working knowledge of GAAP, audits, and other regulatory requirements in the nonprofit financial field. Budgeting and financial forecasting experience, and comfort with excel and/or google sheets.
  • Project Management - Ability to manage multiple projects, plan backwards, consult with various stakeholders, anticipate obstacles, run a tight ship, supervise staff, and keep a cool head while doing it.
  • Nonprofit Operations Experience - Prior experience leading nonprofit financial management, administration and compliance, and personnel.
  • Collaboration skills - Track record of developing and maintaining trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders; an ability to meet people where they are, find common ground and inspire collective action.

HIRING DETAILS
This is a full-time, permanent, exempt position with comprehensive benefits, including health, vision, and dental insurance, unlimited paid time off, paid sick leave, and more. The salary range is $70,000 to $80,000. While hours will increase or decrease based on certain cycles, campaigns, and activity, the position requires willingness to travel and work some evenings and weekends. COVID-19 Update: Because of the COVID-19 global pandemic, all interviews for this role will be held virtually using Zoom software. Currently, all MOVE Texas staff are working remotely from home and we anticipate to stay the same for the foreseeable future. When we determine it is safe to return to in-person work, the new Operations Director will be required to relocate to one of our major cities within 60 days: San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, or Austin.
